I still remember the day I got my dog Charlie.
It was a cold Friday night in the month of December. It was my dad’s birthday, so our family was at a Mexican dinner at Taco Amigo to celebrate. It was divine Mexican food. I was so full, it felt like a ate the whole restaurant. My little sister, Alexandra, asked if we could go to the pet store to look at puppies. The pet store was right next to Taco Amigo. We went over to the pet store after we ate.
Me and my little sister dashed to the section of the pet store in which they sold puppies. We scanned the kennels to look at every puppy they had. We saw tons of puppies. A yellow lab, a baby bulldog, an amusing wiener dog, and many more. It was when we saw Charlie, we knew that she was our favorite. She was only two months old at the time, and was a Brittany Spaniel. Our Family had always had Brittany Spaniels, so we knew what Brittany Spaniels were like. Me, my dad, and my sisters wanted her so bad. My mom cherished the dog, but was not willing to have to watch it during the majority of the day, while me and my sisters were at school and while my dad was at work. That night my mom and dad argued over getting the dog. I thought we were never going to get the dog after that night of arguing.
The next day me and my parents went to the pet store to look at Charlie, again. She looked so adorable, sleeping in her kennel at the pet store. Another family was looking at Charlie, it was Micheal Miosi’s family. After I saw them looking at the dog, I wanted to get her. I started getting scared that the Miosi’s would get her before us. I told my mom I wanted her really badly, but she didn’t know if it was the right time to get a dog. That night my mom and dad talked and talked about the dog.
On Sunday, after church, my parents didn’t really talk about Charlie. That day was just like any other day at our house. It wasn’t until dinner time when my dad brought it back up again. We talked about it during dinner. Me and my sisters begged, and said that we would take care good care. My mom agreed and gave us permission to purchase Charlie. I was so excited I wanted to jump out of my seat, but it was dinner time and I was still eating.
On Monday, after my indoor soccer game, we went to the pet store to purchase Charlie. We did not have the supplies to take care of her that moment, so we had them keep her for the night and then have my dad pick her up after work the next day.
When my dad brought her home from work the next day, I felt like I just won a million dollars. She was a very curious puppy that night. She was confused were to go to the bathroom, where to sleep, where to play, and where to explore. Our family talked about what to name the dog. It was when my little sister said Charlie, we knew it was the perfect name.
Now Charlie is almost three. She loves her new home and her loving family. We could never live without her. We love to have her as part of our family.
