Theme

"Population Police!" screamed a man at the door. Luke did the usual and hid. His dad opened the door. His brothers Mathew and Mark walked in laughing. They always would trick Luke into thinking the population police were at the door. During Luke's ages, a few years into America's future, a law was passed on how many children you could have. If you had more than two children, you had to give the others up. Luke was a third child of his family. Many family's hid their third child, but the population police would try to catch them. Luke was a shy boy that had to follow strict rules. No going by windows, no going outside, no watching TV, no going on the computer, no using the telephone, ect. A new government neighborhood was being built next to his raggedy old house. He had to be very careful not to be spotted. Every day he would look out a crack of his window to count the people living in the new construction leave. It was one day he had counted everyone leave, but he seemed to spot a figure in the "Sports" family's house. If he wanted to check to see if there was a third child in that house, it would have to take true courage and bravery.

Before Luke could  even think, he dashed out his backdoor, heading straight for the Sport's house.
He didn't even check to see if anyone was watching. Just as he took a halt at the back door of the Sport's home.  It was similar to when Katniss, in The Hunger Games, dashed off her platform when she was given the "go".  Like one another, they were hesitant to be seen. It took true courage to do such a thing.

When Luke arrived at the screen door on the back of the Sport's home, he stopped. He tried to pull the door open, but It wouldn’t budge.  It was like the time when Katniss was trying to pull the rope off around he waist so that she could escape from the burning tree. For Luke, he was not in a deadly situation, unless he was caught. Luke decided to tear the door open and walk right in. He was met by a girl around his age.

He was startled. He started to panic, and out of no where asked if she was a third child. The girl, who's name was Janit, told him that she was. They then talked and started to bond. Jania had such a fun life, while Luke's was a boredom. It was like when Katniss and Peeta met up and fought together during the Hunger Games. In both of these situations, they got to know each other. Luke finally found someone with his kind of life.

While both of these characters, Katniss and Luke, had many similarities throughout their journey, they both found a way through their situations. They both followed the same theme of bravery and courage, while adding twists throughout each other's journey.
